Developing Haitian Leaders

Roger & Fredine Derpilus

Roger first went to Senegal, West Africa as a single short-term missionary at the end of 2006. After 7 months, he was convinced that God wanted him to minister in Senegal. He returned to Haiti to marry Frédine, and they went to Senegal as a married couple in early 2008.  They were sent out by the Haitian church through the Haitian mission organization, Vision d’Antioche (Vision of Antioch). Both trained at the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Port-au-Prince (STEP).

Roger is a gifted preacher and teacher. He is actively involved in leadership training as he teaches in two centers of the Seminary in Senegal and has been invited to teach in several other West African countries. He is in a regular rotation for preaching at both of the Evangelical Baptist churches in Thies.  He has been involved with the youth in weekly Bible studies as well as helping to prepare the worship team. He is involved in discipleship and mentoring, evangelism, and teaching seminars in surrounding villages.

In addition to supporting Roger in his ministry, Frédine is involved with the church women’s group, kids clubs and discipling women in small groups.  Roger and Frédine have three boys, Marlo, Rogerson, and Fred.

Senegal is 94% Muslim and though the Senegalese are known for being welcoming of others, it takes many years to build relationships so that one is accepted and has the right to share the Gospel with them.  The Evangelical church is very small and struggling with lack of leadership.  Pray for Roger and Frédine as they help to train Christian leaders and disciple believers with the goal of a mature body of believers who are prepared to help the lost around them find salvation in Jesus Christ.
